OUTSIDE IN: The Story of Art in the Streets

The film features renowned artists Shepard Fairey, Lee Quiñones, Swoon, Futura, Mister Cartoon, Revok, Martha Cooper, Invader to name a few. Director Alex Stapleton (Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel) documents the artist's creative process, their pitfalls with the law, the poetic impermanence of their craft and the artists' evolution from the back seat of a cop car to the walls of a well-respected institution.

12oz Feature Interview: Earsnot

Earsnot is a writer who’s appetite for vandalism is only matched by his aptitude for the city around him. As President of the infamous IRAK crew, Earsnot (born Kunle Martins) lead more than 20 of NYC’s most prolific writers through an all city graffiti onslaught beginning in the late 1990’s. Stealing what they needed to get by and leaving their mark wherever they went; Earsnot and IRAK would serve as the disciples of downtown. The city was their playground: from building rooftops, to subway tunnels, to nearly every street sign / trash can / or doorway in between; there was no square foot of the entire city that wasn’t a potential target for Kunle and his crew. Earsnot is now recognized as one of the most prominent writers in NYC graffiti history, and with 10+ year old tags still blanketing each of the 5 Boroughs; it’s easy to see why.

War 4

This film promises to live up to its expectations and raise the bar on all graffiti films. The all rap soundtrack paves way to a violent paint racking, bus bombing, window ecthing, weed smoking, billboard climbing, ass slapping, grill smashing, coke sniffing, toy slashing, pornstar fucking, border crossing, beer guzzling 107 minutes of what you’ve been waiting for.

Creator of Nike’s famed Swoosh remembers its conception 40 years later

When the Nike pioneers caught their first glimpse of the black, curvy checkmark, the graphic designer waited patiently for a reaction. Nothing. Then, what else you got? Carolyn Davidson, pushing back disappointment that spring day in 1971, pressed on. One by one, she presented a handful of sketches. But ultimately the three men circled back to the checkmark, her favorite. "Well, I don't love it," Phil Knight said at the time, "but maybe it will grow on me."

David Choe – Interview (Boston, MA – 11/27/07)

This interview is special on so many levels to us here @ UGHH, because we're huge fans of David Choe's work, but also, because somehow Van$tylez was able to crack the exterior of David Choe's skull and sip the juice from the inner recesses of his psyche. If I had any sort of psychiatric background, I would be able to give you something better for this description.. but instead I'll just suggest that you watch for yourself.
